We've been hard at work making all the changes needed to bring you our fresh coat of paint, starting on Monday. If you've been listening over the last few days, you will have heard some fun new promos for our shows, containing their new times.
Well, I've been threatening to do this for a while now, and this week, I've finally decided to do it. It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, a time when we traditionally celebrate the harvest and the bounty of the past summer. I decided that this year, we'd celebrate it by taking a detailed look at likely one of the most widely-recorded English folk songs ever: John Barleycorn.
The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been hard at work making refinements to Mushroom FM based on your feedback. From Monday, you’ll hear more of your favourite fun guys more often, and our request system is getting a supercharge. I’ve been here since I started Mushroom FM in 2010, and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, Mushroom FM has never sounded better than it will starting Monday.
It’s a bookish “A cuppa at the Mosens” this Thursday 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. EST on www.mushroomfm.com and in all your fav music apps. There is nothing better than rling up in the swing, comfy chair, or couch with a book and a cuppa of something. On this week’s Cuppa we thought we’d discuss our favourite books, books we are currently reading, or books we hope to never read again. What books and authors have shaped your life or made you hit that pre-order button on Amazon?
On Wednesday’s edition of the Smorgasbord, it’s all Tom Petty, with the Heartbreakers and with the Travelling Wilburys. Tom Petty died yesterday, just short of his 67th birthday, leaving us a rich and memorable musical legacy. I’ll play a selection of that legacy on the Smorgasbord. Join me at 3 AM Eastern, 8 AM in the UK, here on Mushroom FM.
If you check the Mushroom FM schedule over the coming week, you'll notice that next week's schedule looks quite different from this week's. That's because Mushroom FM's making some changes.
We're still your station for four decades of magic mushroom memories, but now, you can hear fun guys on-air more often. And on those much rarer occasions when there's no fun guy on-air, you have a much bigger say in what we play than ever before. Want the scoop? Read on.
No, not in my beautiful balloon but in Sputnik 1, that launched 60 years ago this Wednesday, Oct. 4. And my show just happens to replay that morning.
Hi, I'm Steve Cutway. I will commemorate Sputnik's launch with some songs that tried to capitalize on it. Only one did and it wasn't about Sputnik. I have more twin spins than usual and a song from March 1952 that spent only two weeks on the chart but probably wouldn't get released at all in politically correct 2017.
Yes, it's October, and we here in my part of Ontario Canada have been enjoying autumnal weather at last. So this week on Come by the Hills, the Celtic Music Show, we'll have songs with an autumnal theme, an October-related song in "Celtic Covers," a newly-minted song in "Me Music," and a whole lot more.
