Hello! Sara Hillis here to give you the skinny (the scoop? the straight goods?) on what's coming up this week on Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show. For most of the first couple of hours, we'll be featuring a brand new seasonal offering from Loreena McKennitt, this time recorded live, while sprinkled throughout the show and especially in the third hour, we'll feature songs about Winter itself from artists such as Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and The Kingston Trio. We'll even have a bit of Jethro Tull!

After you've enjoyed Come By The Hills with Sara Hillis, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 to 05:00, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac or smart speaker and join me for The Early Years, where and when you'll hear the best music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades and genres.
Nothing too demanding on this week's show. I'll play more of my Christmas favourites with a 50s focus and some non-Christmas music from the 50s and 60s.

As always, time seems to fly by at this time of year. You only have until 11:59 PM North American Eastern time next Thursday to cast your votes in Mushroom FM’s holiday countdown and receive an invitation to our Christmas party where we play the top 100 on Saturday 17 December starting at 7 AM Eastern time.

From a listener’s perspective, you may think that this show would be an easy one for the fun guys to prepare for. After all, the listeners are in charge of what songs make the chart, so that’s the music taken care of, right? Well, it’s not quite that simple.

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

The passing of singer-songwriter Christine Macvie last week caused me to reach back into the vault for the programme on Fleetwood Mac. We make lovin' fun, have sweet dreams and hear about Rainin.

Tune in on Monday at 4 PM Eastern, which is 8 AM Tuesday in Eastern Australia. Or at 6 AM Eastern Wednesday, which is 10 PM in Eastern Australia. Mushroom FM can be found on SmartSpeakers everywhere.
