Starting this weekend, we’re making some changes to the weekend line-up here at Mushroom FM. We’ve been telling you about these changes for around a month now, but just in case you’ve missed them, let’s explain this here so you don’t miss a moment of your favourite shows.

The quickest way to describe what we’re doing is that we’re completely swapping the programming between 2 PM Eastern and 8 PM Eastern on Saturdays and Sundays.

Join me for The Early Years where you'll enjoy the best variety of music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades and genres.
It's the final Sunday edition of the show and to celebrate that, every song has something to do with Sunday. Some you'll know, some perhaps not.
You can contact me any time by e-mail at steve@mushroomfm.com with comments about the show and suggestions for future shows.

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

Yes, it's another encore presentation of Mushroom Fm's premier Celtic music show, and in honour of New Zealand, the home of The Home of the Fun Guys, I thought we'd revisit a show from October 14, 2018. As they head into winter, I thought I'd pick a show with an autumnal feel to it. It's also a reminder for us here in the northern hemisphere not to take summer for granted.

So enjoy this look back, and I'll be back with a very special new episode in June. Watch this space!

This week on Mushroom Fm's premier Celtic music show, we'll be focusing on the music of Mary Black, as her birthday is on May 23. We'll be playing music from the soundtrack to her autobiography, "Down the Crooked Road," as well as other favourite songs from various points in her long career. While starting out as a straight folk musician, on her own as well as with The Black Family and De Dannan, she became a wonderful interpreter of other people's music and enjoyed great success. She stopped performing a few years ago, but she leaves a legacy of great music behind her.

It's the conclusion of the top 100 of 1969 begun four weeks ago to celebrate Mushroom FM's founder and owner, Jonathan Mosen's 50th birthday. Tune in to find out what the #1 song for the year was.

This week’s “Juke In The Back” highlights the short, but important career of Faye Adams. DJ Alan Freed called her “The little gal with the big voice” and she scored an impressive 3 #1 R&B hits in just a little over a year (1953-54). Surprisingly, she only had one more hit, before leaving secular music for her first love, Gospel Music.
