Ah it’s a strange old thing, time. Even though it’s the 23rd of April at 2 Pm Eastern time, 7 PM in the UK, when Mushroom FM management gets so desperate for content that the Mosen Explosion comes on, it will in fact be the 24th of April in New Zealand.
It just so happens that the 24th of April will be exactly one year since my last birthday, so I guess that means it’s time for another one. And I couldn’t think of anything better to do than to get up very early on my birthday so I can have an on-air party with you in attendance.
I’ve got plenty of tunes that are either upbeat and party-like, or songs that I really like, because after all, to paraphrase Lesley Gore, it’s my party and I’ll play what I want to.
The two youngest bananas grace us with their presence. We’ve done many banana reports over the years, but this is one of the best we’ve ever done, as Nicola sings to David’s beat boxing accompaniment. You gotta hear this one!
We’ll talk about our spontaneous yet frustrating quest to find just the right new TV.
Bonnie, now equipped with new and better blender for bulletproof coffee making, will be here with her bulletin, and we’ll look at this day in history during which we will hear one of my very favourite kids’ stories.
Most important of all, there’s plenty of room for your emails via audio or text, your tweets, and your phone calls to the listener line. You just never know where your contributions and conversation will take us.
In all seriousness, I suppose birthdays are a time for reflection, so let me take just a moment to say how profoundly grateful and appreciative I am that people still tune in after all these years. The time goes by so quickly, and it’s incredible to think I’ve been doing this Internet radio lark for over 18 years now. I look forward to the show very much, because it puts me in touch with so many great listeners old and new. Thank you for this amazing radio journey and I hope to have the pleasure of your company as you join me virtually at Mosen Towers for a little celebration. It’s all on the Mosen Explosion at 6 AM New Zealand time on 24 April. Of course that’s at the usual time of Sunday, 2 Pm Eastern, 7 PM UK, right after the newly extended Uncle Darren, and only on Mushroom FM.
