If you've ever dreamed of being a radio presenter but thought it was impossible to fit into your busy life, we have exciting news. Mushroom FM, the home of the fun guys with four decades of magic Mushroom memories, has a rare opening in our weekday lineup, and we're looking for passionate music lovers to join our global team of volunteers.
What's Available?
We have two precious hours available in our regular weekday schedule. This could be your chance to host your very own show on one of internet radio's most respected and beloved stations. Whether you envision yourself doing a one-hour show or commanding a full two-hour program, we're ready to welcome you into the Mushroom FM family.
But I Don't Have Hours Each Day to Do a Radio Show...
Here's where it gets really interesting. At Mushroom FM, we use a technique called voice tracking, and it's a game-changer for busy people who want to be radio presenters. Voice tracking allows you to pre-record your show segments, your music introductions, your stories, and your personality-driven content ahead of time. These recordings are then seamlessly woven together with the music to create a show that sounds completely live and natural to listeners.
What does this mean in practical terms? A two-hour show can take as little as thirty minutes to produce. Yes, you read that right. In the time it takes to watch half of a TV drama, you could create two hours of entertainment that will delight listeners around the world. You have complete flexibility in how you work. Some of our presenters like to record each day's show that morning over their coffee. Others prefer to sit down once a week and knock out all five shows in a single session. The choice is entirely yours. You can bring some of your own music if it fits our format of music from the 50s to the 80s, but by default, our computer, the Mushroom Pot, picks the songs for you from our extensive library of many thousands of tracks.
Why Mushroom FM?
Mushroom FM isn't just another internet radio station. We're a well-established, licensed internet stream that has built a devoted following of listeners we affectionately call The Mushroom Crowd. Our reputation for quality is rock solid. We play the best music ever produced, spanning the fifties through the eighties, and we pride ourselves on going way beyond the usual gold tracks you'll hear elsewhere. Our music library is extensive, carefully curated, and features full album cuts and the best masters currently available.
But what really sets Mushroom FM apart is our people. Our fun guys, as we call our presenters, are spread across the globe including New Zealand, Australia, Britain, South Africa, Canada, and the United States. Despite the miles between us, we're a genuinely supportive team. We share ideas, celebrate each other's successes, and help each other grow as broadcasters. When you join Mushroom FM, you're not just getting a show slot. You're joining a family.
The Joy of Broadcasting
There's something magical about knowing that people all over the world are listening to your voice, enjoying your music selections, and connecting with your personality. Our listeners love what we do. They tune in on their computers at work, through smart speakers at home, in their cars via mobile apps, and on platforms like TuneIn, Alexa, Google Home, and Sonos. The reach you'll have is genuinely international, and the feedback from The Mushroom Crowd is warm and encouraging.
Being part of Mushroom FM means bringing entertainment, companionship, and joy to many listeners. In an era where automated playlists are everywhere, personality-driven radio still matters. People crave that human connection, that friendly voice that introduces their favorite songs and shares stories that make them smile. You have the power to be that voice.
If you haven’t done this before, that’s not necessarily a show stopper if you’re a warm, friendly communicator who knows how good radio should sound. We’ll give you the tools and the training.
A Cool Project Worth Your Time
Opportunities like this don't come along often. Mushroom FM is well-respected in the internet radio community, and our commercial-free format means you can focus entirely on creating great content without worrying about ad breaks or corporate pressures. You'll have creative freedom to express your personality, share your knowledge of the music, and develop your own unique style as a broadcaster.
The commitment is manageable, the technology is user-friendly, and the support is genuine. Whether you're an experienced broadcaster looking for a new home or someone who has always wanted to try radio but never had the chance, this is your moment.
