We'd like to thank everyone who has voted in this year's Mushroom FM Holiday Countdown! All the contributions are officially in and collected, and now that the vote-validation elves have done their work, it's time for them to switch gears. (well, do elves have gears? Maybe hats is better.) Okay, so it's time for the elves to switch hats and get Portobello Hall cleaned up for your impending arrival! The Christmas tree is being brought in and decorated, and there will be lots of wood for the log fire, or if you prefer it, the windows can be opened to let in the summer breeze. That's the thing about virtual party venues! They can be whatever you want them to be!
We'll keep you posted over the weekend as things get set, but in the meantime, here's a little primer on how your votes are ranked and counted. Basically, the higher you ranked a song, the more points you gave it. So, your Number 1 song is worth more points than your Number 10 song. Then, there's a little bit of mathematical wizardry involving how many people voted for what song at what position, and all those numbers get added up and the songs are ranked according to the total score they receive. It's all a bit beyond me, I must say, but at least the elves knew what they were doing!
So, watch this space, and remember to tune in on Sunday, starting at 9:00 AM Eastern, 2:00 PM in the UK, and if you're in New Zealand, it all starts at 3:00 AM on Monday! If in doubt, you can check our Schedule page which should display things in your local time zone at: https://www.mushroomfm.com/schedule. Get ready! It's all about to happen!
