You’ve made the list, we have of course checked it twice. We are ready to play the top 100 holiday songs of all time as determined by the Mushroom Crowd in 2022. Fun guy Damo McMorrow begins the festive fun at 7 AM Eastern, noon in the UK. We’ve heard that some people for whom it’s a bit early are even setting alarms and we really appreciate that. One listener told us today that this has now become a part of their holiday tradition. That’s an honour.
Stock up on festive food and drink, and crank up your favourite way to listen. If that means the neighbours can be a part of the fun too, then all the better.
The countdown is plenty of fun in itself, but many also enjoy being a part of the virtual party that runs alongside it. If you voted, you’ll have been assigned to a virtual table. By engaging during the countdown, you may win some virtual Christmas crackers for your table. The table that has the most by the end of the countdown gets bragging rights for the next year. So, which table are you on? Ah, we knew you’d ask that! The seating plan is now available for you to review. You can find it, along with a running total of the scoreboard right throughout the countdown, at https://MushroomFM.com/SeatingPlan.
Every year, someone forgets to vote, and wishes they had. If that’s you this year, no worries, people should be forgiving at Christmas. We can assign you to a table during the event.
The way to enjoy and participate in our party to the max is to sign up on a friendly Mastodon instance if you’ve not done that yet, and then track the Mushroom FM hashtag. You can use the hashtag to chat with fellow listeners while the songs are playing.
We also encourage you to follow the fun guys presenting the countdown. This will be particularly important for users of the Tweesecake.social Mastodon instance. Unfortunately, this instance appears not to be picking up our hashtag and we are unclear why that is. It seems to be working fine in other instances we know about.
Because Mushroom Fm has its own Mastodon server, it’s super easy to follow the fun guys presenting. When searching for users in your mastodon app of choice, just search for the following users. It is important to include the at symbol at the beginning of the username. In order of people presenting, the list is as follows:
@jonathan@social.mushroomfm.com
If you're not on Mastodon, you are also welcome to engage via emailing the fun guy on-air. Mastodon and email are the only two ways to participate.
We thank you all very much for building such an amazing chart this year. It’s eclectic and has one or two surprises in store.
See you at 7 AM Eastern, noon in the UK.
