As the Mushroom FM programming spins up to full speed for 2022, we have several exciting improvements to report including a dramatically expanded music library from our four decades and an even easier to use accessible online player. However, the big news we’d like to cover today is the availability of our very own Alexa skill and Google Action.
We believe these innovations will be particularly welcomed by our UK listeners where TuneIn is no longer allowed to play streams outside the UK. This has meant that people who want to tune in via Alexa or Google Home have had to go through some linguistic contortions to get it done. At this stage, the skill and action are both simple and will start playing the stream right away. Note though that Google actions can take a while to start streaming. This is a characteristic of Google actions beyond our control.
Google Action
If you have a device that is powered by the Google Assistant, you can say something like, “Hey Google, ask Mushroom FM to Play.”
Alexa Skill
Use our Alexa skill by saying, “Alexa, Open Mushroom FM”. The station will start to play. From then on, the command “Alexa, play Mushroom FM” or “Alexa, open Mushroom FM” should play it from our skill, not from any third-party service.
Give us five stars
If you enjoy the commercial-free, quality service we provide, we certainly would appreciate a five-star rating for the Alexa skill or Google action to help us spread the word.
Thanks for your support and we hope you enjoy easier listening.
