Kia ora Mosen At Largers.
I have been glued to every minute, yes literally every minute, of the impeachment in the US this week. That’s a challenge when you have a very busy fulltime job so I will explain how I did it. I’m not sure I am using the perfect system yet, so you may like to improve the system I outline.
It’s been a funny old week in Mosen At Large land this week as I have received a large number of not for broadcast emails in response to the part of last week’s show on redirecting our advocacy efforts on Apple quality control. I am pleased it resonated with so many people who have been inspired to adopt some of the methods I suggested. We do have a few public comments on the topic for the show this week and yours would be most welcome.
There are plenty of comments on the issue of guide dog refusals from taxi and ride share drivers, particularly when people refuse for religious reasons. Have you ever been refused a ride, or for that matter entry anywhere, because of your dog? I’d love to hear the story, how you handled it, whether you complained and if so whether it was resolved to your satisfaction. Is it the considerate thing to do to cut those who have genuine religious objections a little slack? And how about those who are allergic to dog hair. Is it acceptable for drivers to refuse us if they can’t take us for medical reasons? We’ll hear your comments, then I’ll speak with Graeme Innes, a former member of Australia’s Human Rights Commission. Legal rights are one thing, but if we’re looking at this issue purely from a moral, human rights perspective, how do we resolve it, what is the right thing, when two sets of human rights seem to irreconcilably conflict?
A listener is about to become a first time JAWS user and is asking for my advice about what to prioritise when it comes to buying a new computer. If you can’t get top of the line everything, what are the most important things when it comes to a good screen reading experience with JAWS? I have my own thoughts, and yours are also very welcome.
We have more Braille display thoughts, and a listener responds to a call in last week’s episode for a demo of the Amazon Smart Oven.
As usual, there’s a wide array of blindness and technology topics from listeners on which you may like to comment once you hear them.
If you want to raise something new, you’re very welcome.
Getting your contributions in ahead of time leaves you free to hear the show, and gives me a chance to organise them all, so go for it. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. To contribute, send an email with an audio attachment or just written down to Jonathan at MushroomFM.com, or call the listener line, +18646066736, that’s 1-864-60Mosen.
