Kia ora Mosen at Largers. I am moving forward with this week’s show in the hope that I will be able to present it, but at the moment, I have almost no voice. What’s that I hear? Cheering? Oh how rude! Rude I say! I hope to be well enough for the weekend but if not I will post via these channels and we’ll do a replay. But it does mean that if you have the means to send an audio contribution rather than written email, you’ll really be helping me out. Still, I’ll gladly take them in whatever form they come.
As mentioned in the last episode, we’re coming up to 8 December, which will be the 40th anniversary of John Lennon’s assassination. What’s remarkable to me is how the Beatles remain timeless and continue to span the generations, attracting many young fans. Of course no group can be universally liked, but for the most part, the Beatles unite us. I would love to hear your thoughts on what the Beatles mean to you, any memories you have of growing up with the Beatles if you’re old enough to have done so, and of course any recollections of where you were, what you were doing and how you reacted when you heard the news of John’s death. This is all in preparation for our 24 hours of John Lennon tribute programming on 8 December, which will include documentaries, interviews, described movies and of course plenty of music. I look forward to what you have to share.
We talked a little last week about Facebook and the love/hate relationship so many of us seem to have with it. I’d like to explore that some more. If you’re on Facebook, are you on there because you really love using it, or because you feel obliged to use it as a way to keep up with friends and family? What’s your favourite way of engaging with Facebook? What’s your favourite social network and why? Do you bother with Twitter, LinkedIn, even Instagram? Are you sworn off social media completely? If so, do you feel excluded from anything?
And we’ll have part 2 of the Amazon Fire TV review. Having set it up, now we’re on to the groovy stuff and I’ll give you a thorough tour of using it.
As usual, there’s a wide array of blindness and technology topics from listeners on which you may like to comment once you hear them.
If you want to raise something new, you’re very welcome.
Getting your contributions in ahead of time leaves you free to hear the show, and gives me a chance to organise them all, so go for it. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. To contribute, send an email with an audio attachment or just written down to Jonathan at MushroomFM.com, or call the listener line, +18646066736, that’s 1-864-60Mosen.
The best way to hear Mosen At Large is when it airs live and in full on Mushroom FM on Saturdays at 2 PM Eastern, that’s 7 PM in the UK. It will then be available in abridged form on the Mosen At Large podcast, available anywhere you get podcasts.
Thank you so much for listening and contributing to the show, and see you soon for Mosen At Large.
