Kia ora Mosen at largers. We have some terrific contributions coming in from all four corners of our circular globe in what will be another informative and entertaining show this week. Here are some of the highlights on which you might like to send in a contribution yourself ahead of the show.
Thanks to a genius idea from a listener, this weekend we’re going to reminisce a bit, because reminiscing is always fun. This time, we want to hear about tape recorders you’ve used in the past, starting with your very first tape recorder. Understandably, blind people have been fascinated with recording things because it’s something we can fully participate in and enjoy. So, whether it be open reel or cassette, a twin deck with high-speed dubbing or a tiny thing, what did you have and what did you use it for? Do you still have recordings you, and maybe your friends, made when you were very young? This will be a really fun topic if we get plenty of contributions.
From scrambling to fix Apple’s serious hearing aid bugs to people playing with the new shiny iPhones and Macs, it’s been a busy time in Apple land. We have plenty of questions and opinions on all things Apple this week.
I love Braille, but there are times when alternative systems of labelling can give you much more information. I’ve used various gadgets for audio labelling over the years, but the Beauty of WayAround is that it’s NFC-based and works with the smartphone you already carry around with you. It’s a well-constructed, elegant system and it has quickly become integral to keeping things nicely humming along at Mosen Towers. I’ll speak with Jessica Hipp from WayAround and give you a demonstration of the app and its practical benefits.
There are plenty of other interesting contributions coming in, so if you’d like to raise something completely different, feel free.
Getting your contributions in ahead of time leaves you free to hear the show, and gives me a chance to organise them all, so go for it. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. To contribute, send an email with an audio attachment or just written down to Jonathan at MushroomFM.com, or call the listener line, +18646066736, that’s 1-864-60Mosen.
The best way to hear Mosen At Large is when it airs live and in full on Mushroom FM on Saturdays at 2 PM Eastern, that’s 7 PM in the UK. It will then be available in abridged form on the Mosen At Large podcast, available anywhere you get podcasts.
