Join me for The Early Years where you'll enjoy the best variety of music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades including music from before the rock era.
Feb. 3, 1959 has come to be known as "the day the music died" thanks to Don McLean's American Pie. Just after midnight that day, a chartered plane carrying singers Richie Valens, J.P. Richardson (the Big Bopper) and Buddy Holly crashed shortly after take-off from Clear Lake, Iowa.
Tonight, I'll play music by "the three stars". (You'll have to listen to get that reference.) This show originally aired Feb. 5, 2017 just after the 58th anniversary of this tragedy. Now we're at the 60th anniversary so I think it's worth a second airing.
You can contact me any time by e-mail at steve@mushroomfm.com with comments about the show and suggestions for future shows, especially songs with numbers in their titles or groups with numbers in their names for a series I'm working on.
So join me, Steve Cutway, in The Early Years, as I once again remember "the day the music died", tonight at 06:00 PM, proceeding Jonathan and preceding Sara, replaying Wednesday morning at 07:00 AM, preceding The Smorgasbord at its new time, only on Mushroom FM, the home of the fun guys, making four decades of magic mushroom memories!
