Join me for The Early Years where you'll enjoy the best variety of music from the 50s and 60s with an nod to other decades, including music from before the rock era which is generally accepted as starting in 1955.
Fifty years ago yesterday, Sept. 8, 1968, I became a bright-eyed, first-year freshman (called Frosh) at Queen's University in my home town of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. To say I was innocent and naive is an understatement but that quickly changed as I became accustomed to, and embraced university life.
This week and the next two, I'm going to play songs that were on the Billboard Top 100 the week of Sept. 7, 1968, songs I was listening to on the radio in my earliest days as a university student. Some will be familiar, others might not be. You'll hear a number of twin spins, version comparisons and versions you may not expect that might become jaw-dropping songs for you.
You can contact me any time by e-mail at steve@mushroomfm.com with comments about tonight's show and suggestions for future shows.
