I tell you folks this is just such an exciting time of the year and it's especially so with all the excitement around this weekend.
No, no - I'm not getting one of these new exciting black or extra black iPhones or anything like that - but if you are then what a weekend you're going to have.
No my excitement is that MushroomStock 2016 is just 5 days away and it's going to be our best yet!!!
That’s right, at the top of the hour, that’s 11pm Eastern, 4am Sunday in the UK and 3pm Sunday in good old New Zealand, I’m opening up the Shed Doors for another week.
And, what a week it’s been!
I’m back home!
You can expect four hours of complete nonsense, including, but not limited to, a wide variety of music, a triple threat, and a live and loud segment.
I’ll even add in a few rambles of my own, and you all know how much I love to ramble.
Of course to stop all this craziness from happening, send in requests by e-mailing: anthony at mushroomfm dot com
There are few things in life that would keep me away from the Mosen Explosion family. Very very few. You may recall that back in 2011, I started my show an hour late because of the special 60th anniversary extended edition of The Archers, the BBC radio drama that's been running non-stop since 1951, and which I've been listening to for over 40 years.
It's been fifteen years since an unthinkable event occurred on a quiet tuesday morning in September, and throughout the world, violence and war and man's inhumanity to man just seem to persist. So, we'll be presenting songs about facing and overcoming adversity, songs about happy things, and songs that will make us reflect on the better world we would like to see here on earth.
We'll have our usual features of course, and we'll be hearing from Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Loreena McKennitt, Planxty and many more.
She’s Back, and still with an iPhone6 plus! Bonair Saturday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST on mushroomfm.com and in all your fav music aps. In addition to the usual Bonnie banter, including my thoughts on the apple event, we will take your requests—anything goes this week as there isn’t a theme, and discuss our dream house and remember a nightmare house if you have one. It’s been rather winterish in Wellington this week, so don’t be surprised if we throw in a few songs about snow.
This week, the “Juke In The Back” pays tribute to a very dynamic, soulful and often passed over R&B female vocalist: Lil Greenwood. Today, Lil Greenwood
is best remembered as a vocalist for Duke Ellington during the late ’50s and early ’60s, but it’s her R&B recordings from 1950-1954 that are the real standouts.
She recorded for the Modern, Specialty and Federal labels and often had vocal groups like The Four Jacks and The Lamplighters backing her up. Hear Lil’s
story and some of her greatest records on the “Juke In The Back” with Matt The Cat.
Yes, for some unfathomable reason, the Fungal Powers That Be have agreed to let me keep doing my crazy mixed-up musical show on the weekdays. In fact, starting today, the have agreed to let me lengthen and longthen it by one whole hour! Yes, that's right! From Monday to Thursday of this week, the Sara Hillis Show will begin at 3:00 PM Eastern and run until 5:00 PM.
Can you believe it, it’s almost 11pm Eastern, 4am in the UK and 3pm Sunday in New Zealand.
That means I get to open up the shed doors again for another four hours.
Four hours of a very mixed selection of music, with a triple threat and live and loud segment chucked in as well.
It’s spring here in New Zealand, and I know this because I can’t stop sneezing.
So tune in to see if I can survive four hours, without feeling like my head is going to fall off!

It was father's day 21 years ago that i found out we were expecting our little Heidi banana. Although we didn't know she was going to be a Heidi banana at that point because it was too early for even the most ultra of ultrasounds to know that. Now, I'm celebrating father's day with four rapidly growing bananas. How the time flies.
Join me this Sunday evening at 8:00 PM Eastern for Come By The Hills: the Celtic Music Show, when we'll salute the fact that it's now September, the time when summer ends and the harvest begins in the Northern Hemisphere. Indeed, there was a time when the September Equinox would have marked the middle of Autumn rather than its outset. So, we'll be remembering the summer that is past and hoping for a plentiful harvest to come, with songs about the cycles of nature and about summer-related activities.
