Yes, Mushroom FM's premier celtic music show is back this week with a brand new episode. I'm all vacationed out and ready to get back into the swing of all things Mushroom-related, and Come by the Hills is no exception. All our features are in their proper places, and there are a couple of songs in honour of the Labour Day Weekend here in Canada, as well as our usual fine range of folk and celtic favourites for your listening pleasure.

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

The world lost an officer, a gentleman, family man, and statesman this week, and we will be remembering Senator John McCain in music.
No matter what side of the political fence you sit on, Senator McCain was what a politician should be.
We are taking songs from his top ten playlist as reported by NPR in 2008 and mixing them amongst the usual music from the seventies.

Sandwiched between The Mosen Explosion and Come By The Hills is a little show I call The Early Years.
It's a variety of 50s and 60s music this week. For the first hour and forty minutes or so, I'll present the 20 top songs of the 60s in the Summer as chosen by Rolling Stone Magazine. In the remaining twenty minutes of the show, you'll hear a variety of music from the 50s and 60s including that A-side I talked about last week that went nowhere.

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin.

Once upon a time, in the early days of The Mosen Explosion, we hosted the show from desktop computers. In the very early days, it literally was desktop computers, plural. One to stream with, another to do all the cool broadcasting trickery with.

Time went by, like it always does, and after a while, laptop computers became more powerful. Since mid-2009, the show has come to you thanks to the power of laptop computers. Just run into the studio, dock the laptop, and if it wasn’t working correctly, say “holy soup! What’s up, dock”.

You can't accuse us of not being environmentally friendly here at Mushroom Fm, and to prove it, I've decided to try recycling. This week, we're revisiting an episode of Come by the Hills from June 17th of this year. It has all the usual features and of course a lot of great music. I'll be back next week with a brand new episode, but for now, I hope you enjoy this trip into the recent past.

It was a momentous day indeed, filled with great celtic music and so-so banter by yours truly.
